After spending the night in the Tolima capital, the members of the indigenous minga continued their journey to Bogotá. The councilors who lead the minga took stock, assured that other communities have joined them.

“We come 7,000 from Cauca, from Cali and here according to statistics we are adding 9,000 mingueros and mingueras. Social organizations, popular sectors and other indigenous communities are joining, ”said Herly Quintero, counselor of the Crit.

This Saturday they arrived at the municipality of Fusagasugá, in Cundinamarca, where the authorities will deliver biosecurity items to travelers to guarantee health security.

“The agreement made with the representatives of the minga is to respect the biosafety protocols, including hand washing and constant use of the mask. On the part of the municipal administration, they will be given some units of masks, ”said Luis Peñalosa, Secretary of Government of Fusagasugá.

Upon their arrival in the Cundinamarca municipality, the Ombudsman, Carlos Camargo, and the Minga councilors held a meeting where they agreed that Camargo would act as mediator with the National Government.

“We are going to reaffirm our commitment to be an articulator and to be that factor of understanding between the parties, between the authorities of the National Government, the indigenous authorities and other sectors,” said the defender Camargo before concluding his meeting with the Minga

The Defender is communicating, according to that entity, with President Iván Duque, to seek a direct dialogue when the caravan arrives in Bogotá.

The Minga will spend the night in Fusagasugá and at around 10:00 am it will begin its march to the capital of the country.
