The Minister of Education, María Victoria Angulo, assured that the return to classes in the different areas of the country will take place gradually and depending on the behavior of Covid-19 in the territories.
“The exact date on which each of the territorial entities will enter will be closely linked to the evolution of the pandemic. There are several regions of the country that can start, as planned, at the end of January or the first week of February ”, he declared in an interview with Blu radio.
According to the minister, the return to the classroom will be “gradual, progressive and safe” and without neglecting the dynamics of health, so any decision regarding the return to classes in alternation mode will be taken under three parameters: index of infections, ICU occupancy and population density.
“Several cities in the country have the conditions to return to classes such as the Caribbean Coast, Quindío, Chocó and Caquetá, Huila and Putumayo; on the contrary, Bogotá, Medellín or Cali must continue preparing ”.
In addition, he said that the alternation plans are the work purposes of 2021, “it will be a year that we will work hand in hand with Minsalud, the entire immunization phase is having different evolutions in the territory and allows alternation, combining presence, work in home and make responsible decisions ”.
The official concluded by saying that the decisions of the alternation will be made by the education secretariats in the territorial entities, with the accompaniment of the Ministry of Health.
In Barranquilla
In view of the minister’s statements, the district Education Secretariat recalled that the academic calendar of students from official schools in Barranquilla begins in the first week of February, either with distance education or in alternation mode.
From the Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla, through the District Secretariat for Education, “the necessary support is being provided to educational institutions that are preparing to apply this model, so it is expected that the return may be made in February. to the classrooms with the institutions in which the conditions are given and that comply with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education ”, said the Secretary of Education, Bibiana Rincón.
The official stressed that the internal process for returning to classrooms has been developing with the support of teachers and directors of district educational institutions: “It is important to bear in mind that the plan does not only consist of complying with the protocols, it also implies various factors and elements that allow defining how the face-to-face sessions are going to be developed, in which the aim is to provide feedback on autonomous learning and reconnect children and young people with school ”.
