According to the mayor of Barrancabermeja, Alfonso Eljach, on May 5, “a man, who is part of a contractor company, and who was with a test for Coronavirus in process in Bogotá, entered the city violating all the protocols of isolation”.

The local president stated that “the company to which the man belongs did not carry out the protocols required by the District Mayor’s Office and when he was already in Barrancabermeja he received the positive result for Covid 19”.

Eljach Manrique indicated that “as soon as the case was heard from the District Health secretary, an operation was prepared to carry out the epidemiological siege on the person and nine other people who would have had direct contact with him and all were immediately isolated.”

The Barrancabermeja Mayor’s Office filed a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office last Sunday for those responsible to be punished, and administrative actions were also initiated for the consortium of which the worker is a part.

The Oil District authorities will intensify the measures so that the contractor companies that work in the city comply to the letter with the established protocols.
