The journalist and television producer who studied at Boston University had been in the audiovisual industry for more than 30 years. In addition to holding various positions at Caracol Televisión, he worked in media such as Univisión, Telemundo, RCN and CBS.
This Saturday Luis Calle died, who since 2012 served as Vice President of Operations, News and Sports of Caracol Televisión.
Calle studied journalism and television production at Boston University and for more than three decades he had been linked to the audiovisual industry, performing successfully in the operations and news areas of channels such as Univision, Telemundo, RCN and CBS.
The information was confirmed by Gonzalo Córdoba Mallarino, President Caracol Televisión, with the following words:
“With immense sadness, I must inform you that Luis Calle, Vice President of Operations for Caracol TV, has passed away. In the midst of the pain that his departure causes us, we want to remember fondly a career full of successes and sacrifices, and a full professional and family life.
Undoubtedly, there are many lessons that Luis left us and we were fortunate to have him by our side as a great teacher. There are countless journalists who were trained with him. Therefore, we are aware of the challenge and commitment we have to maintain his legacy. Professionally, a comprehensive structure, fine criteria and a clear awareness of duty and decency.
Behind the figure that for many was serious and firm, there was an exceptional human being, sensitive in aesthetics and implacable in form. With a deep knowledge of the world and the country in which we live, he put all his skills and virtues at the service of a medium, which sometimes overlooks the forces that build it. His departure leaves a huge void in the entire Caracol TV family.
Without a doubt, Luis was also an exemplary family man and dedicated to his home. We extend all our affection to his wife Clara, his children Susana, Marcela and Jorge Andrés, and his grandchildren. We share with you that pain that great losses leave behind.
We are convinced that Luis has left us an enormous task to do and, today more than ever, we have a commitment and duty to fulfill it in the best way possible. That will be the best way to honor the memory of a great friend and colleague.
