The Vice President of the Republic, Marta Lucía Ramírez, pointed out that the Government is taking actions to continue generating opportunities for the population with disabilities, and called on the business sector to raise awareness with this population.
“As a country we all have to sensitize ourselves to those Colombians with any condition of disability, especially since there is still no complete regulation that requires a change of attitude,” said the vice president.
For his part, the presidential adviser for the Participation of People with Disabilities, Jairo Clopatofsky, indicated that the health emergency due to Covid-19 has become an opportunity to learn in depth the reality of this population because it has allowed The Government advances in the characterization process, generating strategies for the recognition of rights, inclusion and equity of people with disabilities, their families and caregivers.
According to the Government, a total of 4,264 people with disabilities are linked to public entities and the goal is to reach 12,000 jobs in the public sector in the four-year period.
“From the Ministry, we work to create jobs for people with disabilities, thanks to the support of the Administrative Department of the Public Function, the Public Employment Service Unit, SENA, Innpulsa and the Vice Ministry of Culture. We seek to strengthen roadmaps and consolidate proposals in entrepreneurship and innovation, which highlight the capabilities and leadership of the population, “said Clopatofsky.
One of the great challenges of the Government, according to the vice president, is to reach all departments and municipalities with a public policy of inclusion that allows strengthening the skills of people with disabilities, their families and caregivers, which is why a follow-up to the formulation and application of development plans, in order to adapt the reality of the territories, assume the management and implementation of actions for the benefit of the population with disabilities.
