Juan Camilo Sierra, director of the Cali Book Fair, passed away

Juan Camilo Sierra Restrepo, current director of the Cali Book Fair, died this Saturday in Bogotá due to pulmonary complications. Apparently, he had been hospitalized for several weeks and was being treated for cancer.

The news was confirmed by his family around 7:00 pm, who thanked his friends and relatives for demonstrations of solidarity.

Sierra created the festival, in collaboration with the Spiwak Foundation and the Cali Mayor’s Office, in 2016. Since then, she has worked to position it and managed to make it one of the most important cultural events in the city and the region.

The Cali Ministry of Culture spoke through networks and sent a message of solidarity to the family, friends and relatives.

The cultural manager also served as director of the Economic Culture Fund, he would be in charge of the virtual edition of the fair, which will take place between October 15 and 25.
