This Wednesday, in the afternoon, Gian Antoine Harb, one of those involved in the soap popsicle ‘joke’, published by the Cartagena-born Jay Tommy, turned himself in at the Police station, which immediately generated rejection in social networks, since these were delivered to older adults in the streets of La Heróica.

Although he is not the main author of the controversial video, in which bars of soap are covered with chocolate and sweets, he was part of the preparation process and appears in the recording, so he appeared before the authorities with his lawyer, asked for forgiveness and said that his intention was not to hurt anyone. He also accepted that they did not measure the consequences of their actions.

After meeting and undergoing an interrogation, the Police applied two fines: one for affecting social groups of special protection and another for being offensive to the authorities since, apparently, it was at the time he appeared before the authorities using profanity. According to the National Code of Security and Citizen Coexistence, these competitions would cost 936,320 and 234,080 pesos, respectively.

In his statement, Antoine Harb explained that he was not an ‘influencer’ and therefore they do not have any channels, but he does help Jay Tommy with his videos. So far, the latter has not appeared before the authorities.

The actions of the authorities

Given these facts, The Attorney General’s Office announced that it will open an investigation against the young people behind this “joke.”

“In relation to events reported on social networks about influencers who have deceived the elderly in Cartagena with soap lollipops, # Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation, through the Immediate Reaction Unit, and carries out urgent actions to identify those involved”, said the accusatory body.

Later, The Cartagena Police published a statement in which it announced that they are advancing the identification of those responsible.

The entity affirms that, with evidence in the video on social networks, “Police officers from the Cartagena de Indias Metropolitan Police advance in the identification of two men and a woman, who are allegedly linked to crimes that affect public health and safety, by supplying food with toxic elements.”

Jay Tomy is the protagonist of the painful event in the capital of the department of Bolívar. This character in social networks closed all his accounts and defended his actions. “At no time did they let people eat the whole pallet and they helped with money those who saw that they needed it most”, claimed after the scandal.

The Cartagena Participation Secretary, Armando Córdoba, described these events as “outrageous” and asked that this young man and his companions be punished.

“In the last hours we have seen a video where some supposed influencers who are nothing more than irresponsible. They are intoxicating street dwellers and older adults through so-called popsicles that are nothing more than soap. We ask the authorities to apply the full weight of the law ”, Córdoba said a few days ago in statements to Blu Radio.

This is not the first time that Jay Tomy has wreaked havoc in Cartagena. In 2019, the ‘influencer’ in the company of his friends pretended that an alleged street dweller who slept on a platform was dead and were fined 883,000 pesos
