The Chinese National Health Commission reported that in Wuhan, the city where the new coronavirus was born, there are no longer any people hospitalized for COVID-19. According to health authorities, only 12 are currently “active” infected patients.

Wuhan, the birthplace of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic, has discharged all patients hospitalized by the virus, said the spokesman for the National Health Commission, Mi Feng.

Hours earlier, in its daily part, the Chinese National Health Commission had numbered 12 patients infected “active” by the coronavirus that remained in Wuhan until last local midnight (16.00 GMT Saturday).

The information published today by the Chinese state press did not specify whether it continues to be infected with mild symptoms that do not require hospitalization in the city.

Last Friday, the health authorities registered the last patient in serious condition in Wuhan who, according to the information released by Me, had also been discharged.

Wuhan has not registered serious cases since last Friday, and has been at least since last day 14 without registering deaths from the resulting COVID-19 pneumonia.

The city, capital of the central-eastern province of Hubei, has so far certified at least 3,869 deaths from COVID-19 among the 50,333 diagnosed patients out of the 4,632 officially registered deaths in China.

Although the first cases of coronavirus were detected in Wuhan, the main focus is now in the north-eastern Heilongjiang province, which borders Russia and whose border crossing Beijing was forced to close as there was an increase in infected Chinese citizens from Russia.

This Saturday, China detected 11 new infected across the country, 5 of them precisely in Heilongjiang province.

The number of infected “active” in the Asian country is 801 (82,827 in total since the start of the outbreak), 51 of them in serious condition.
