The Interior Ministry authorized the Government of Santander to extend the restriction during the two festivities. However, there is still a meeting between Governor Mauricio Aguilar and the mayors of the Department to define which leaders adopt the measure.

The news was confirmed by the Secretary of Health of Santander, Javier Villamizar, who said that “from the Department of the Interior of the Department, in conjunction with the Health Secretaries of the metropolitan area, we request the National Government to extend the curfew during December and January 1 ”.

Villamizar said that “we received the approval of the Ministry of the Interior for the curfew measure to go from 11:00 pm on December 24 to 1:00 pm on December 25 and from 11:00 pm on December 31 December until 1:00 pm on January 1, 2021 ”.

The official indicated that the measure is taken to prevent the traditional ‘pot walks’ from being carried out, also so that people who are used to leaving after 12:00 am, after giving Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to I will share in other places.

However, the measure will be socialized with the mayors of the metropolitan area of ​​Bucaramanga and Santander to define which leaders adopt it.

It should be remembered that until this Friday, the occupancy of the ICUs in Santander is 71.4%.

Bucaramanga and Piedecuesta welcome the measure

At the moment, the only Mayor’s Office that has confirmed the strengthening of the curfew for the end of the year parties has been that of Bucaramanga.

Mayor Juan Carlos Cárdenas recalled that the capacity in establishments and shopping centers cannot exceed 30%.

The president stressed that establishments selling liquor may only operate until 10:00 pm

Likewise, Cárdenas reiterated that the use and commercialization of gunpowder is prohibited.

For his part, the mayor of Piedecuesta, Mario José Carvajal, stated that “we always obey a metropolitan study and the occupation behavior of the ICUs, that is why we accept the extended curfew until 1:00 pm on December 25 and January 1 ”.

Carvajal Jaimes indicated that “we call on citizen conscience to respect the restriction and the authorities will also carry out the corresponding operations to enforce it.
