The Conservative Party is mourning the death of 58-year-old former deputy and former councilman Ignacio Alberto Gómez Alzate, the death of which was known this Saturday morning.
He was a deputy of the Assembly of Caldas in the period 2015-2019, he was also a councilor of Manizales in two terms. He was president of both corporations and also presided over the Caldas Conservative Departmental Directory.
He was a dentist, with two postgraduate degrees in Public Management from ESAP and in Health Management from the Autonomous University of Manizales. He was Secretary of Health of Manizales and director of the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Riosucio.
They remember it
Félix Chica, representative to the Chamber for Caldas of the Conservative Party, remembered him as a friend: “He was a man of principles, of the province. He didn’t leave me alone when a lot of people did. He was involved in politics out of vocation and not out of interest ”, stated Chica.
He took the opportunity to send his condolences to his mother, his three children and his grandson.
Another friend and colleague in politics, Angelo Quintero, former Secretary of Agriculture and who is currently working in the Ministry of Agriculture, said that the former deputy was a generous man, with a social, humanistic vision, who fought to improve the quality of life of Caldenses thinking about health.
María del Rosario Muñoz, press officer for Representative Chica, described him as a simple person, tireless worker; human being with excellent qualities. “Before being a politician, he was a very human man, always ready to dialogue, to talk to people.”
His closest ones indicate that he had been ill for several days due to heart problems, he had not even been able to travel again on tours of the municipalities.
The place and time of his funeral have not yet been established.
