Ideam forecasts rains in Valle del Cauca for this weekend

As a consequence of the first rainy season, under the influence of the La Niña phenomenon, the rains will continue to be present in different regions of the country, including Valle del Cauca.

This Saturday, according to the forecast of the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies, Ideam, there will be heavy rains in the department as well as in the Gulf of Urabá, Córdoba, Sur de Sucre, Bolívar, Antioquia, Norte de Santander, Santander, Boyacá , Cundinamarca, Caldas, Risaralda, Quindío, Chocó, Cauca, Nariño, Casanare, Meta, Caquetá and Putumayo.

The entity asked the populations of these territories to be alert, taking into account that between March 1 and April 2, 400 emergencies have been registered in 244 municipalities of 23 departments, being Cundinamarca, Nariño, Antioquia, Huila, Cauca and Valle del Cauca the areas with the greatest impact due to the rains.

Among the emergencies are 211 landslides, 67 floods, 33 gales, 44 flash floods, 31 storms, 10 torrential avenues, two hailstorms and two electrical storms.

According to Ideam, emergencies caused by heavy rains have claimed the lives of 46 people and left 30 injured and 15 missing. In addition, 4,745 families were affected.

In terms of infrastructure, two health centers, 20 educational centers, six community centers, 361 roads in the country, 31 vehicular bridges and 15 pedestrian bridges have been affected. There are also 52 destroyed homes and 3407 damaged ones.
