Hypertension, the disease most associated with deaths from Covid-19 in Quindío

11 new deaths by Sars-Cov-2 this Saturday in the department.

The department of Quindío registered 83 new cases of coronavirus this Saturday, January 2; 76 in Armenia; 2 in Calarcá; 4 in Quimbaya and 1 in Filandia.

On the day, the departmental health secretary reported 11 deceased citizens: 8 in Armenia, 1 La Tebaida, 1 in Montenegro and 1 in Circasia. People whose ages ranged from 53 to 80 years.

The total number of infections in Quindío since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to 24,860, of which 676 have died. According to the statistics of the departmental authorities, the comorbidities associated with the deceased are in descending order: hypertension with 94 cases, heart disease with 51, kidney failure with 28, COPD with 28, obesity with 28, hypothyroidism with 12, cancer with 11, tuberculosis with 5 and asthma with 1.

On the other hand, it should be noted that active cases by municipalities are distributed as follows: Armenia with 2,257, Calarcá with 456, Montenegro with 116, Quimbaya with 99, Circasia with 89, La Tebaida with 86, Filandia with 36, Salento with 23, Pijao with 16, Buenavista with 13, Genoa with 12 and Córdoba with 4.

To date, the only municipality that has not officially reported deaths from Covid-19 is Buenavista.
