With 82% occupancy in the ICU, in Quindío the maximum alert is declared in this part of the country
This was announced by the departmental Health Secretariat from where they explained that the declaration is due to the high occupancy of beds in the services of intensive and intermediate care units in the department, due to the increase in cases of coronavirus infection and attending to the recommendations of the joint external circular issued by the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and of the Technical Committee of the Departmental Health Secretariat, by means of circular 10152 of December 18, 2020, where the hospital red alert is declared for Quindío.
The authorities clarified that these measures are transitory and the lifting will depend on the behavior of the SARS virus – COV2-COVID 19.
With the measure, the total restriction of surgical procedures in all specialties is ordered, and in the same way of those non-urgent and deferrable programmed procedures.
Likewise, all competent authorities are urged to implement, promote and demand compliance with self-care measures, use of face masks, hand washing, keeping distances and avoiding crowds, promoting a healthy lifestyle, avoiding family gatherings. and labor, as well as parties, consumption of liquor, and control of unnecessary travel, for the general population, and adopt all administrative measures necessary to guarantee the health and life of the inhabitants of the Department of Quindío.

A call is made to all the companies administering benefit plans, both special, contributory and subsidized, to put their network of health service providers on alert to correct the emergency situation in which the hospital network enters through the increase in COVID-19 cases; clarifying that on the date of issuance of this circular there is an occupational percentage of 82% in ICU beds of the public and private network
Likewise, all health service provider institutions are required to virtually reinforce primary care, promotion and prevention, education activities and improve the resolution capacity of first-level services., to avoid congesting the hospital network of medium and high complexity.
