The Government of Atlántico issued Decree 047 of 2021 by means of which curfews are established, accompanied by dry law, in the municipalities of the department for three weekends, which began today at 7:00 at night.

The measure, according to the Government, is due to the need to implement actions that result in the reduction of the risk of contagion by covid 19 among the Atlantic population, preventing people from gathering at parties or public establishments for the consumption of liquor.

With the purpose of preserving health and life, avoiding the spread of Covid-19 in the department, and in concert with the municipalities, the Government of Atlántico decreed a curfew as of this Friday, January 29 at 7: 00 pm and for the next three weekends.

“With this measure, the movement of all the inhabitants of the department, with the exception of the district of Barranquilla, is prohibited,” says a press release published Thursday afternoon by the press office of the Government of Atlántico.

The decision, according to what was reported by Manuel Díaz Jimeno, counselor for coexistence, was taken jointly, in a meeting with the municipal mayors, establishing night hours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (see infographic).

The measure contemplates some exceptions such as assistance and provision of health services, acquisition of basic necessities and goods for ordinary consumption such as food, beverages, medicines, medical devices, articles for hygiene, cleaning and goods for ordinary consumption.

Stores or supermarkets may only serve by providing services to customers’ homes or through electronic platforms.

Decree 047 indicates that under no circumstances are activities such as public or private events that involve an agglomeration of people allowed, in accordance with the provisions and protocols issued by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.

And although the sale of intoxicating drinks is not prohibited, the operation of discos and dance venues is not allowed, nor is the consumption of these drinks in public spaces or commercial establishments.

The decree does not apply to the city of Barranquilla and includes the days that, according to the calendar, were scheduled for the celebration of Carnival 2021; that is, February 13, 14, 15 and 16.

The departmental authorities made a new call to citizens to maintain biosecurity measures such as the use of masks, frequent hand washing, avoid crowds and stay as long as possible in their homes.

“Hotels, establishments in the gastronomic industry, and parks will not be included in the cases in which the peak and ID measure is implemented in the territories,” the statement said.

Atlántico is the 12th department in the country with the highest number of people with covid 19.
