In the midst of the health crisis, the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs activated a contingency plan for the passport issuance process that includes biosecurity measures and fewer daily appointments to avoid crowds.
The Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs adopted new measures in the process to obtain or renew the Colombian passport. From now on, the offices will function with the respective biosecurity measures dictated by the national government.
“This supposes a smaller capacity to the one that usually is attended in high season. For them, appointments through the website are scheduled until the end of December, “said the Foreign Ministry in a statement.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that, for these dates in which many Colombians are preparing to travel abroad taking advantage of the holiday season, the contingency plan includes three key points:
- More than 90 appointments are being enabled in online scheduling every day.
- There is an allocation of more than 100 exceptional appointments, in response to requests filed through the Integral Citizen Service Center (CIAC) through the Integral Citizen Service Center.
- There is an allocation of exceptional appointments directly from the Coordination, by email or by calling citizens.

On the other hand, the Foreign Ministry asks citizens to update their location in the application developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Directorate of Migration, Consular Affairs and Citizen Service, this in order that in case emergency make it easier to locate nationals to provide assistance.
