Dennis, champion in 2018 and 2019, was fifth at 39.76 seconds, just behind Britain’s Geraint Thomas, fourth at 37.02 behind Ganna. The only Spaniard who competed, Pello Bilbao, finished in 26th place at 2 minutes and 33 seconds.

Filippo Ganna, who was third in the World Time Trial Championship last year, achieved his fifth title of world champion, but his first on the road. He treasures three gold medals on the track, always in individual presentation (2016, 2018, 2019 and 2020).
