Fight of María del Rosario Guerra with Petro and Roy Barreras

On the morning of this Wednesday, it was confirmed that Senator María del Rosario Guerra, from the Democratic Center, tested positive for COVID-19.

That result forced the Senate to decree isolation for her and several of the congressmen with whom she had contact. That decision also had an effect on the Plenary scheduled for this Thursday in which the debate on political control and the motion of censure against the Minister of Defense, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, was advanced.

The senators had to return to virtuality, after barely a week of having met in person again and the opposition did not like that, which had everything ready for the debates in which the official and his management were questioned in front of the Forces Military and Police.

Therefore, upon learning that a quarantine was ordered in the Senate and that the reason was Guerra’s positive, Roy Barreras wrote on Twitter:

“Don’t worry so much that the Uribistas and Trump have COVID lasting two days. It’s a special strain… it’s called ‘opportuninsis coronavirus’ ”.

For his part, the senator Gustavo Petro, in the same social network, questioned whether the result reported by the congresswoman from the Democratic Center was true:

Guerra did not want to leave the feeling of a deception in the air and responded to both of them, but directly in the session when they gave him the floor:

“I cannot accept that Senator Barreras and Senator Petro want to imply that testing positive for COVID-19 is a hoax and is a lie because of a political control debate.”

The senator described as “disrespect” the remarks of the opposition congressmen, because she assured that she does not play with her health and invited them to look at the result that “issued the Gencore, which is a laboratory of the Universidad de los Andes.”

But in her speech, she also dedicated her time to each parliamentarian, because, according to her, they have no grounds for debate, but she did not mention that Barreras presented very sensitive complaints (in the live session).

Guerra also said that “the thief judges by his condition”, and began by referring to a past situation of Petro, although without mentioning it:

“Others supposedly had cancer, supposedly they had diseases in Cuba that were treated and that in the end, thank God, they did not.”

That is why he reproached the senator for questioning his evidence and then he addressed Barreras: “The senator, I understand, had his daughter very delicate with COVID and I was in solidarity. How I sympathize with all Colombians who have lost relatives or have had them infected and have gone through difficult times ”.

Finally, she assured that she, for now, has suffered from a mild illness from the coronavirus with very little pain and fever. This was his intervention:
