Duque extends selective isolation until February 28 – Government – Politics

This Wednesday, President Iván Duque announced that the selective isolation with responsible individual distancing runs until February 28, which is the same date that the health emergency ends.

The head of state clarified that this is done with the aim of containing the spread of the pandemic and taking measures in some specific regions.

“We have very clear guidelines to continue taking steps towards the control of the pandemic, but also the safe reactivation, and have alert levels, such as the occupation of the Intensive Care Units (ICU), which must always be one of the most relevant indicators for the decision-making of the Ministry of Health with the local governments, “said the President.

This means that the restrictions on public events, discos and dance venues are maintained, and the consumption of intoxicating beverages in public spaces and commercial establishments that are not in pilot.

Additionally, the president warned that if there is a negative variation in the behavior of the pandemic or an increase in the use of ICU beds, they will take specific measures.

On the other hand, for municipalities with an ICU occupancy between 51% and 69%, mayors may request special measures, with prior authorization from the Ministries of the Interior and Health.

In the case of municipalities with an ICU occupancy that is equal to or less than 50%, they may not be subject to special measures.
