On December 31, the dry law in Cali will govern from 5:00 pm and will be in effect until 5:00 pm on January 2, 2021, Mayor Jorge Iván Ospina announced on Twitter this Tuesday.

This extension of the dry law is due to the increase in the contagion of covid-19 in the city.

Additionally, Ospina indicated that the peak and schedule will continue, and that the curfew is maintained from 11:00 pm, which is valid until January 4.

He indicated that meetings and encounters in public spaces are not allowed.

Pance closure

The mayor stated that access to the Pance River will be completely closed from December 31 at 6:00 am to January 4 at 6:00 am, to avoid crowds in that sector of the city.

In Cali, it is traditional for many citizens to take the traditional ‘pot ride’ to the Pance River at the beginning of the year. In fact, in previous years for that date traffic jams were reported on the roads in the south of the city for said walks.

“We need all the possible responsibility from you, the only existing option is to take care, save life at home. For this, awareness, self-control and show solidarity as a value of a society manifested in caring for others,” the mayor wrote on Twitter .
