“It’s impressive, I had never been on one of the main courts, not even training. It surprised me a bit, it doesn’t give you a chance, I played much faster than me, it was difficult. It was a good experience, I would have liked to do more,” he said the Colombian.

Rescued from the qualifying phase, Galán reached the third round in Paris, but he could not compete against the world number 1.

“In the videos, one thinks that the forehand is heavier, that it does not go so fast. In reality they were missiles, winning blows on all sides, I was limited to holding on,” said the 153rd of the ranking, who preferred to play it backwards because the power was less.

Galán assured that in the hours before the game he preferred not to think that he was facing one of the best tennis players of all time so as not to increase the pressure, because the nerves were already many for the round reached and for discovering one of the mythical stadiums of the world tennis, the Philippe Chatrier court in Paris.

“I felt inferior, but it motivates me to keep working. That’s why I got here, I have a lot to improve, but I’m motivated to keep going,” he said.

“I felt that they ran over me. I was quite nervous, I felt that I was moving, but no, I felt that I was very tense, nervous, I could not move like I play normally, it was difficult to relax,” he said.

“I’m leaving with the fact that despite today’s game, I have been doing things well, it has not been easy to come back from the break, but in the end I have been working well, we must continue on this path. Today’s game shows that there is much to improve , but with discipline it can be achieved, “he said.

Galán, the first Colombian to reach the third round of a Grand Slam since Santiago Giraldo at Wimbledon 2015, stated that he hopes to be “a motivation and inspiration for the little ones who want to play, someone who motivates tennis to continue growing”, for which that would help it to get good results.

The Colombian confessed to greatly admire Djokovic, but also Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer.

“I admire him a lot, I admire all of them a lot, although I’m not a fan of anyone. I admire the three of them, who have won everything they have won. Today I realized why they have been up for so long and it is so difficult to get them out of there” , he pointed.
