Among the agreements, the Secretary of Government promised to give discounts on the ICA tax, as well as to offer support for payroll payments. A joint project will be done to start the pilot of the bars.

After more than five hours of dialogues, the owners of bars and discos in Bogotá reached an agreement with the Government Secretariat, in light of the new measures that restrict the opening of those establishments that had reopened as gastrobars, due to the agglomerations that appeared on the weekend in Modelia.

According to the Secretary of the Government, Luis Ernesto Gómez, five agreements were established at the table. “The first thing was to recognize that nothing contributes to taking care of the health of the city, nor to generating a solution, trying to work under the figure of gastrobars, when it is a bar or a disco.”

In addition, the District promised to give discounts on the ICA tax, given the reduction in sales during the past year, as well as to include these establishments in the “Local Micro-enterprise” program, under which payroll subsidies will be given. for up to six months, which corresponds to about $ 23 million.

Finally, it was agreed to work together on the pilot for the return of the bars, for this, it is expected that a medium-term schedule will be drawn up and we worked with the health ministry to determine the epidemiological costs of its opening. “This proposal would be presented by the unions and adjusted by the owners of the discos and the Ministry of Economic Development,” said Gómez.

In this regard, the president of Asobares, Camilo Ospina, had made it clear that the new restrictions of the District could end up leaving the union bankrupt. “It is a sector that had been slowly reactivated after 2020 that left 8,449 companies of this type closed in Bogotá, which means the loss of nearly 60,000 jobs.”

For its part, the District maintains that although it will continue to bet on the reopening, it must also be ensured that the city does not cross a third peak similar to the first two. Therefore, it emphasizes the importance of citizens maintaining self-care measures.
