The contagion and fatality figures from covid-19 continue to increase. In the last week, Barranquilla has not dropped below a thousand new cases a day and deaths remain above 20.

This panorama led Mayor Jaime Pumarejo to carry out an evaluation of the progress of the pandemic and the measures applied during Holy Week to contain the speed of infections by covid-19.

After the meeting with some members of his cabinet, experts from the Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Health (INS), the president announced that he was extending the curfew and prohibition measures for one more week, that is, until Monday April 12th.

It also extended the validity of the ‘pico y cédula’ to enter private places open to the public; but, in addition, it will apply to collective public transport and individual public transport such as taxi.

Likewise, it was determined to suspend the alternation model that began to be used in some public and private schools. This suspension will be in effect for as long as the restrictive measures are applied.
