District asks to investigate party promoters

Parties, crowds and flexibility in biosafety protocols in bars, billiards and restaurants were part of the panorama that occurred in Barranquilla during the weekend.

The reports sent through Wasapea to EL HERALDO show that the fear of the virus, which continues to increase the number of infections, does not seem to exist.

In the images of the ‘Elite’ billiards in Simón Bolívar and the ‘Trucupey’ nightclub, the presence of dozens of people is notable, some of them without masks and others without keeping the physical distance of two meters.

Faced with this situation, the Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla disabled the commercial activity of both establishments and requested the Attorney General’s Office to open the pertinent investigations and search for those responsible for this fact.

“We will not tolerate in the District of Barranquilla, this type of situation that threatens the health of all Barranquilla residents. We will be attentive to any situation that arises in the city to take corrective measures that may be appropriate, ”warned the head of the Office of Security and Coexistence, Nelson Patron.

Operative

During the operations carried out by the Covid Patrols and the Barranquilla Metropolitan Police, through the Caravans for Security strategy, 61 cases of crowds and celebrations were intervened.

The localities with the highest incidence are Suroccidente with 30.23% of the cases attended, Southeastern with 27.91% and Metropolitan with 20.93%.

Lastly, there are the North – Historic Center towns with 18.6% and Riomar with 2.33% of interventions.

The district authorities made a call to the public and anticipated that forceful measures will be taken to avoid this type of non-compliance with the measures decreed by Mayor Jaime Pumarejo.

“This is not the time to celebrate anything, that is why we must be jointly responsible for the efforts made by the administration to contain the virus,” added Patron.

In the north and south

In the words of the sociologist Jair Vega, what happens in the city is not a matter of social stratum.

“Both in the south and the north of the city there are people who are taking measures and there are those who are not. There is a lack of clarity in many measures, on the one hand they tell us we are already getting out of this, but, for example, it has not been thought how people were going to start vaccination, “he said.

For the expert, the vaccination plan could generate a perception that the problem “we started to solve.”
