Santiago Arias’ team officially reported that the player suffered a fibula fracture and ligament injuries to his left ankle, in the match that the Colombian National Team beat Venezuela 3-0 on the first round of the World Cup Qualifiers.

For that serious injury, Bayer confirmed that Arias will have a 6-month disability. Which means that, at best, the right-back he could play again in late April or early May of the next year.

The national player arrived a couple of weeks ago to that German team, on loan from Atlético de Madrid from Spain. This injury practically causes Arias to miss most of the season with his new club.

The side spoke on his Instagram account, with an extensive message in which he thanked the support he has received from Colombians in recent hours and stating that his heart hurt more than his own foot.
