Diego Armando Cadavid, the alleged murderer of his 18-month-old daughter, will be charged with aggravated femicide

In the early morning of this Friday, December 18, the Mayor’s Office of Rionegro, east of Medellín, announced that The authorities had found lifeless the 18-month-old Sofía Cadavid, who was reported missing in the afternoon hours of this Thursday.

Hours later, the Attorney General’s Office reported that the father of the minor, Diego Armando Cadavid, was captured in the capital of Antioquia by CTI Units, in a joint effort with the military Gaula and the National Police, as the alleged perpetrator of the heinous crime.

According to the information provided by the judicial entity, Cadavid recognized in the interrogation that it was he who murdered his own daughter, an 18-month-old baby. Furthermore, in the investigations carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office, it was evidenced that the minor was “beaten to death” by her father, for an alleged revenge against her ex-partner, the girl’s mother.

“We are going to charge him with the crime of aggravated femicide before a judge of guarantees, the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation continues to act against criminals and calls the attention of citizens so that together we can protect our children and adolescents. We are not going to allow acts of impunity in this country ”, explained the Attorney General of the Nation, Francisco Barbosa.

Through its Twitter account, the Rionegro Mayor’s Office reported the discovery of the girl’s body: “Unfortunately our authorities have just found the body of little Sofía, we deeply regret the outcome of this case that mourns the rionegreros”.

The minor was reported missing along with her father, Diego Cadavid, in the afternoon of this Thursday. However, the same mayor’s office later confirmed that Sofía’s father had been found in the La Mota sector, in that Antioquia municipality, apparently under the influence of hallucinogenic substances, for which he was detained in a medical center.

“Mr. Diego Cadavid, was found in the La Mota sector, shows symptoms of disorientation and was taken to a health center”, Explained the local authority through Twitter.

The Rionegro Mayor’s Office had announced that the girl was wearing a white jacket and a jean, and, in her search, the administration had activated hotlines so that anyone who had information about her whereabouts could provide it.

After discovering the girl’s body, and the first inquiries by the authorities, especially by monitoring the municipality’s security cameras, the mayor of Rionegro, Rodrigo Hernández Alzate, confirmed that the minor’s father, Diego Cadavid, who appeared with blood stains on his clothes, confessed to being responsible for the murder of the minor.

“She was found in the Porvenir sector, in Ríonegro, after taking him (Diego Cadavid) to the hospital, he himself directed the authorities and indicated where the girl’s body was. We do not know why he murdered her, apparently there was a problem between the father and the mother and as in the month of April, according to what I am informed, they separated as a result of domestic violence and unfortunately it is unrelated to what happened today”Hernández reported.
