ANDaneth Quintero spent Christmas Eve away from her husband and two children to take care of the patients of an IPS, but on Christmas morning when he was going to rest at his home in Campo Hermoso, a driver who would have spent the night celebrating, he took his life in a fatal onslaught.
The accident occurred around 8:30 in the morning at Carrera 27 with Calle 42, where a private car was involved, apparently driven by a young man in a state of ill health and a motorcycle where the nurse and her husband were mobilizing.
How did it happen?
Yaneth and her husband were traveling on a motorcycle with an FLE-88E license plate. He had gone to pick her up from her work at a clinic where she cared for a patient, and they were already moving home. The red light at 27 and 42 stopped them.
There they waited for the change of light when they were surprised from behind by a black Chevrolet Spark, license plates BXO-222 from Barrancabermeja. The motorcycle was trapped in the defense of the vehicle and the couple was dragged one block to the intersection with Calle 45 where they were both fired.
However, the driver did not stop, he continued on his way with the motorcycle, until finally the car stopped near the intersection with 48th Street, two blocks in front of where he rammed the couple.
Yaneth died immediately, because when the ambulances arrived they could only help her husband and take him to the La Merced Clinic. According to the official report, he suffered multiple traumas and lacerations.
Was he driving drunk?
The Spark driver would be speeding and in an apparent state of numbness. At the time of the accident, he was being pursued by a patrol from the Parque de Los Niños, as he had missed a red light.
This was confirmed by Brigadier General Luis Ernesto García, commander of the Mebuc, who explained that the subject was captured.
“The Police captured the 28-year-old man, who was mobilizing in the private vehicle and ran over the nurse. Previously, that citizen ignored the stop of the surveillance patrol, and also violated traffic signals, including a red traffic light, “the Officer explained.
In addition to the driver, another man and a woman were mobilizing in the car. According to witnesses, cans of beer and bottles of liquor were found.
The director of Bucaramanga Traffic, Andrea Méndez, explained that the driver was transferred to Legal Medicine, where they took a breathalyzer test. Yesterday they awaited the results, while the driver was left at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office.
