Valle del Cauca will have a curfew from this Thursday, December 17, until next Sunday, the 27th, as was announced this Tuesday by the Governor of Valle, Clara Luz Roldán.

The measure will govern 40 of the 42 municipalities of the department between 11:00 pm each day and will extend until 5:00 am the next.

“Given the worrying situation of the pandemic, we have decided for the entire Valley that from December 17 to 27, we will have a curfew from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., in order to to reduce crowds to the maximum at Christmas, “announced the regional president, via Twitter.

It should be noted that Cali and Buenaventura, being special districts, must decide whether to accept the regional measure or whether to take specific measures for their jurisdictions.

In the case of the capital of the Valley, currently the restriction to mobility between 1:00 am and 5:00 am applies; However, the mayor Jorge Iván Ospina had anticipated that the schedule of the same will be extended, and the peak and card will be adopted in the city.

The Governor of Valle indicated that the decision is made taking into account “the progressive increase in covid-19 cases in the department and the high occupancy of the Intensive Care Units, ICU”, of the public and private hospital network.

“The pandemic presents us with a difficult situation to end the year 2020. It is urgent to control the increase in positive cases and the occupation of our hospitals, so that in no case the health emergency gets out of control,” argued the president.

He also reported that scheduled surgeries in health centers will be postponed until the alert level decreases.

“This is an initial measure, but it can be extended again if cases continue to increase, and ICU occupancy and vital services remain at the limit. The situation we are experiencing is worrying and it is everyone’s responsibility to maintain control and prioritize life, taking care of ourselves,” he said .

Roldán reported that there are currently 25 minors in the ICU and the contagion has not stopped, “on the contrary, it has been increasing due to crowds and lack of application of biosecurity measures.”
