The Government announced new measures to face the impact of the coronavirus in different cities, which have high occupancy in the Intensive Care Units (ICU).

The designated interior minister, Daniel Palacios, assured that these decisions that are adopted are part of the instrumental measures designed by the committee of experts, when there are accelerated increases in the occupation of the Intensive Care Units.

Cities between 70% and 80% ICU occupancy

Thus, cities that have Intensive Care Units (ICU) occupancy between 70% and 80% consider restricting non-priority surgeries, peak and card for all types of commercial activity and restricting all types of public meetings and private meetings.

But the most significant measure is the restriction of the mobility of both people and vehicles through public areas from January 7 to January 12, 2021, between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am

In other words, the curfew will only apply at night.

“Home services and the exceptions contained in Decree 1076 of 2020 are allowed,” said the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz.

In addition, there is a limitation in the pilot schedule for the sale of alcoholic beverages in bars and discos, while the occupation is maintained, as it will be until 7:00 p.m.

Cities between 80% and 85% ICU occupancy

In cities that have an occupancy between 80% and 85%, the movement of people and vehicles in public places is restricted from Thursday, January 7 at 8:00 pm and 5:00 am on January 12.

That is, cities like Bogotá will have a curfew between January 7 and 12, between 8:00 pm and 5:00 am, to continue with the current occupation of ICU beds.

In any case, home services will be allowed.

Cities with ICU occupancy equal to or greater than 85%

In these towns, the curfew will run from January 12 to 16, but the hours will only be between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
