Curfew and dry law extended from 8:00 pm on December 31 to noon on January 3 throughout Valle del Cauca, announced this Wednesday Governor Clara Luz Roldán.

According to the president, this reinforcement of the measures is due to the unusual increase in infections by covid-19 in the Valley, the shortage of medicines and risks in the face of immediate reaction in the health network.

The measure was announced minutes after the restrictions in Cali, where the curfew and the dry law will be extended from 9:00 pm on December 31, until noon on January 3.

The Governor indicated that the decree with the specifications and exceptions in Valle del Cauca will soon be published.

Furthermore, Roldán pointed out that “this measure is necessary in view of the health emergency in which we are immersed, with an ICU bed occupancy close to 95%”.

The president concluded by saying that, “it must be considered that even before the current contingency the highest number of cases for covid-19 was 715, registered in August, and now, the average is 1,000 cases per day.”

Added to this is the lack of necessary medicines for the care of patients in the ICU, which has forced a humanitarian bridge to be built with the departments of Cauca, Quindío and Caldas for the transfer of the most critical patients.

It should be remembered that in Valle del Cauca, 42 deaths and 1067 new cases of covid-19 were registered this Wednesday, according to the latest report from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.

With this report, the department reached 136,522 infected people and 4,264 deaths since the arrival of the virus in the region.
