The club itself reported the events to the Italian health authorities, underlining that it did not arrest them as this is an individual decision for which each one will have to assume responsibility.

Cristiano Ronaldo and six other Juventus Turin players could face legal sanctions after violating the mandatory quarantine that the entire team follows, following two positive cases of covid-19 in the club’s squad last week.

According to local media, the Portuguese star and his teammates Paulo Dybala, Juan Cuadrado, Gianluigi Buffon, Merih Demiral, Rodrigo Betancur and Danilo Luiz, left the accommodation where all the Juve staff remained isolated, to go to their countries of origin or join their national teams in the qualifying heats for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The players left for their respective destinations earlier this week, after undergoing sampling for the detection of coronavirus and without waiting for the results. The club itself reported the events to the Italian health authorities, stressing that it did not stop them because it was an individual decision and, by leaving the quarantine, each would have to assume their responsibility.

Roberto Testi, director of the Prevention Department of the Local Health Authority, thanked Juventus for “exemplary behavior” for putting them on notice, and clarified that it will be the sports justice prosecutor’s office who will assess whether there has been a crime and decide whether to proceed legally or not against those involved. The penalty could amount to a fine of 400 euros (about $ 473).
