The Head of State, in his usual program since the beginning of this crisis, revealed that he spoke with his United States counterpart, Donald Trump, who announced that he will support the country with equipment and vital elements to attend to the emergency.

“We express our voice of solidarity and we express our gratitude for the commitment to support the country and provide teams to combat this contingency, as fans. We hope, in a month, to have access to that support“Duque said.

He added that it was agreed with Trump to exchange relevant information on the behavior of the virus and the pandemic. “We appreciate that Colombia is at the point of attention. We are all countries working as a team and this conversation was an important opportunity,” concluded the Head of States.

Shortly before, the White House had revealed details of the conversation between the two leaders, noting that both leaders stressed the importance of working together to address the challenges facing their governments.

Both reiterated the importance of continuing to work to address the ongoing Venezuelan crisis and other mutual priorities in the region.

Duque, at the beginning of his speech, recounted the figures of the pandemic in the country. The Ministry of Health confirmed this Thursday nine more deaths in Colombia from the new coronavirus. With this update, the number of deaths in the country amounts to 215.

According to the health authorities, the new deaths correspond to a 46-year-old man in Valledupar, with pulmonary tuberculosis, HIV, toxoplasmosis, severe caloric protein malnutrition; a 67-year-old woman in Barranquilla, with HT and diabetes; a 40-year-old woman in Santa Marta, with obesity and hypothyroidism; a 58-year-old man in Bogotá, with epilepsy, and a 56-year-old man in Leticia, with hypertension and chronic kidney failure.
