Miguel Ángel López will participate for the third time in his career in the Italian round, in which he reached the podium, to the third drawer, in 2018 (he was seventh in 2019).
At the Monreale start, the “coffee” climber will team up with the Danish Jakob Fuglsang, one of the candidates for the podium and the final victory and who will serve as “second man on board”.
López, 26, will leave Astana at the end of the season, due to a lack of budget to cover his salary.
The Colombian, winner of two stages in the Vuelta a España and one in the Tour de France (the ‘queen’ stage) has never raised his arms in the Giro.
After finishing sixth in the general classification of his first ‘Grande Boucle’, López finished 41st on Sunday at the World Cycling Championship held in Imola (Italy).
This was the trill of the Astana team, in which the Colombian rider is happy to return to the race and sends a message in Italian:
The last Maglia is back! @SupermanlopezN Welcome aboard! 🛫 @AstanaTeam pic.twitter.com/gGoLgigq20
