Clinics and hospitals ask for more self-care and financial support

The Colombian Association of Hospitals and Clinics supports measures such as the hospital red alert. However, they ask for more citizen commitment to self-care measures and the Government to tighten the EPS to pay outstanding debts.

In July of this year the departmental government decreed the first hospital red alert for the occupancy of ICU beds greater than 80%. In October the situation was repeated and although this December we have not reached that point, the measure was adopted preventively due to the increase in coronavirus infections.

In supporting and complying with the measure, the second point requested by health institutions is financial support.

With the hospital red alert, surgery services are restricted. At the Pablo Tobón Uribe Hospital, for example, in the first two alerts, the operating room staff went to attend the pandemic in the ICU, this time it will not be the case.

The hospital red alert will last until January 4.
