The child under four years old fell around 10 in the morning this Thursday in the boiler of a sugar mill. With his entire body burned, the boy seriously traveled to the San Gil Regional Hospital where he is treated by a medical team to stabilize him and send him to Bucaramanga.

Carlos Ariza, head of the Emergency Medical Corps of the Sangileño hospital, explained that the referral to Bucaramanga is urgent.

For this reason, relatives and authorities requested air transportation from San Gil to Bucaramanga. The request was raised to the departmental Health Secretariat, the National Army – taking into account that the minor’s father is a professional soldier – and the Risk Management Unit.

In this regard, the Director of Risk Management of Santander pointed out that the operation to help the minor has already been started, so it is expected that in a few minutes he will arrive in the capital of Santander.

Helicopter support will be provided by the National Army, after coordinating with the Government of Santander.

The Departmental Administration coordinates the admission of the minor to be cared for in the Burns Unit of the Santander University Hospital.

The accident occurred in the San Juan Nepomuceno village of San Joaquín.
