Cauca: Government pronounces on the case of the deceased woman

President Iván Duque and Defense Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo spoke about the case where a transgender woman, Identified as Juliana Giraldo Díaz, 38, was murdered at an alleged Army checkpoint in Miranda, Cauca.

President Duque condemned the event that occurred in Miranda, Cauca and ordered the Minister of Defense and the Army to carry out the pertinent investigations.

For his part, the Defense Minister also rejected what happened and affirmed that the Army will evaluate what happened in that sector of Cauca and will take the necessary measures to correct any errors that may have occurred in the command and control responsibilities.

“Actions of this type are contrary to the Defense and Security Policy of the Government of President Iván Duque, as well as to the doctrine, procedures and protocols of the National Army, and are not tolerated,” said the minister.

In addition, he assured that the personnel involved in the incident will be separated from their functions and placed at the disposal of the competent authorities.
