Carlos Correa, appointed by Duque as the new Minister of Environment – Government – Politics

President Iván Duque announced this Sunday afternoon the designation of the ex-mayor of Montería Carlos Eduardo Correa Escaf as the new Minister of Environment.

Correa will replace Ricardo Lozano, who had been in office since the beginning of the Government and who for a few days had expressed to the Head of State his intention to leave office, basically for health issues.

Through a trill, the president stressed that Correa, a business administrator at Universidad EAFIT de Medellín, is an expert on sustainable cities and territories.

The new Minister of the Environment has been an advisor and lecturer on sustainable cities and territories at the IDB, UN Habitat and CAF, among others, and has led solar energy projects and cultural actions towards sustainability.

In his resume, it is noted that he is “an expert in social development, urban planning and territorial development, transformation of cities, Smart cities and Modern Public Management “.

As mayor of Montería, in the period 2012-2015, Correa positioned the Cordovan capital as a sustainable city and under that vision he returned the Sinú River to the city, making it the axis of social, cultural and economic development of Montería.

He is very close to the Cordoba senator David Barguil and during the government of Juan Manuel Santos he was presidential advisor for the Regions

Currently, Correa is an advisor to the Multipurpose Cadastre and Territorial Development of ESAP-ASOCAPITALES and of the UNDP-Presidency of the Republic.
