After learning that the vaccination day in Tolima was going to begin this Friday, February 26 with the 5,777 vaccines that arrived in the department a few days ago, the departmental Health Secretary, Jorge Bolívar, confirmed that this process is suspended until further notice.

According to what the official said, this is due to reasons in the deviation of the temperature of the biologicals from Sinovac, so they will be quarantined until the corresponding studies are completed.

“The vaccination process that was planned for this weekend with the Sinovac vaccine of 5,777 doses received, is suspended. The foregoing by a direct order from the Ministry of Health that states that the Sinovac vaccine sent on February 24, presented a small deviation in the temperature curve “, He said.

Likewise, the secretary stressed that, until the provider tells the National Government whether or not the biologicals can be used, the vaccines will not be used.

“It was requested that these be quarantined until it is confirmed with the provider if they can be used or not”, explained.

Likewise, he pointed out that “The department of Tolima already has 27 municipalities as of Thursday certified to start the vaccination process.”

In this sense, a new guideline from the Ministry of Health is expected to continue with the process and find out if these more than 5,000 vaccines can be used.

“We will await the guidance of the Ministry of Health where it states that they will quickly send us other vaccines to continue with the process in Tolima.”

Finally, the official added “Also, confirm that we have already received another 1,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines for the city of Ibagué that arrived without the diluent that is expected to arrive on Saturday to continue with this day with the assistance personnel.”
