On the night of December 24, a traffic accident was recorded in which an 11-year-old boy died and his parents were injured. The person who was driving the vehicle that caused the tragedy fled, leaving behind a fractured family.
Edgar Suárez was going to spend the good night with his family. He was taking his wife, Carla Rondón, and their son Yender on his motorcycle, to meet with his other 8 children in his house located in the Villa Iler neighborhood of Riohacha. Suddenly they were hit by a speeding vehicle.
The collision occurred shortly after 7:00 p.m., on 37th Street with Carrera 14, southeast of the city. The crash pushed Edgar away while his wife and son were not so lucky: the car ran over her and the little boy was dragged several meters while he fled.
Carla Rondón and the boy Yender were admitted to a clinic in the city, but the boy did not survive the serious injuries he suffered in the accident. Carla, for her part, he is fighting for his life in the Intensive Care Unit.
“We had to do almost the impossible so that they could give her basic care in the clinic because she is Venezuelan and only has the PEP,” he explained Amaris Betancourt, cousin of Edgar Suárez, in exclusive communication with La Guajira Today.
Carla Rondón suffered fractures in her arms, clavicle, pelvis and legs, Amaris Betancourt reported and revealed that on December 27 her relative underwent pelvic surgery. However, “there is much more to do because it is very bad,” he said.
Edgar Suárez, since the accident is in a state of shock. Her cousin said that she does not speak and acts “as if nothing had happened.” Meanwhile, his relatives have been in charge of managing everything related to the burial of his son and, now, the health of his wife.
As Amaris Betancourt explained, Carla Rondon requires surgery for multiple traumas in a more complex clinic, but they do not have the resources to refer it. In addition, the person responsible for the accident fled.
“We want the person responsible to be found and justice done, but what we most need is for you to help my sister-in-law to undergo surgery with the special care she needs. The family is suffering from all of this: the death of the child and the agony of my sister-in-law, ”added Amaris Betancourt.
The family made available the telephone number 301 701 9359 for any kind of donations or contributions that can help Carla Rondón and her loved ones at this time.
