Mexican singer-songwriter Armando Manzanero, 85, is hospitalized in Mexico City in a “delicate” state after testing positive for COVID-19, reported this Thursday (12.17.2020) his daughter Martha Manzanero Arjona, who along with her brothers traveled to the capital of the country.
“My father is a warrior, the doctors have said that they will do everything possible to get him out of this disease,” the youngest daughter of the Manzanero Arjona family confided this Thursday, without specifying the hospital where he is hospitalized.
Martha, María Elena, Armando and Diego Manzanero Arjona are grateful for the expressions of affection from their admirers and dozens of artists who, upon hearing the news, expressed their solidarity with the family and their prayers for the health of the author of classic romantic music Mexican like “We are boyfriends”, “I’m going to turn off the light”, “With you I learned”, “This afternoon I saw it rain” and “No”.
Before the statements of his family, the Society of Authors and Composers of Mexico had revealed that Manzanero contracted COVID-19, but limited himself to saying that “he is being treated according to established medical protocols.”
The news of Manzanero is released while Mexico accumulates 1,289,298 infections and 116,487 deaths.
The government of Mexico has recognized that the country is experiencing a “second peak of the pandemic”, in which Mexico City faces 80% hospital occupancy, which is why it is at risk level.
