Another of the children injured in the tanker accident in Bogotá died

The most serious road accident that mourned a whole family occurred in the town of Ciudad Bolívar in Bogotá, when they were driving in a car ascending towards the Sierra Morena sector and were hit by a tanker truck, which apparently was moving with excess speed.

The truck fell on the private vehicle where the family was moving, almost instantly the father and one of his children died, while the mother and three children were rescued and taken to the Meissen Hospital for their attention.

One of the children, 5 years old, arrived at the hospital without vital signs, while his 2-year-old brother died two hours later in an Intensive Care Unit, due to the severity of the injuries.

At the moment, the 33-year-old mother remains under a reserved prognosis receiving psychological attention. The other members of the family of 9 and 14 years are under medical observation, a girl will be discharged.

Although the authorities do not rule out that the cause of the accident could be due to a mechanical failure, the witnesses to the event suggest that the accident could have been caused by excessive speed by the driver of the SNG 313 license plate truck. This is a 26-year-old man who has injuries to his skull and soft tissues, but is out of danger.

Losing control when reaching the dangerous curve, the truck rammed the Chevrolet Sail vehicle with EMU 648 plates where the Chilatá Arana family was transporting.

In this regard, the Director of the Traffic Police, General Carlos Rodríguez, spoke and confirmed the fact:

“A greeting of total solidarity and support with the Chilatá Arana family, where at 8:30 am on December 25 in the Sierra Morena sector in Ciudad Bolívar, there is a sinister road between a tank vehicle, where this vehicle suffers a overturning and unfortunately falls on a private vehicle ”.

If it weren’t for the private vehicle and a small hill, the tragedy could be worse, because downhill to the curve there are houses with families residing ten meters from where the final crash happened.

Right after the deadly crash, witnesses in the area who heard the roar reacted to help the victims. This is how citizen Ánderson Casallas related it to the Caracol News cameras:

“We started helping the three children first, we took them out to the three youngest among the same neighbors. The children were already serious, more than all the smallest, the three-year-old was already bad. The driver, if we couldn’t get him out, the accident was terrible. The point was that that car was already going full throttle, the truck was coming at full speed because the policemen rattled.

For its part, CityTv reported that three minors were admitted to health centers. The five-year-old minor arrived at Meissen Hospital without vital signs, while another minor entered the Intensive Care Unit. The 26-year-old driver of the tractor is at the Proinfo Medical Clinic for presenting a slight trauma to the head along with the other minor, 14, who also has the same medical report, reported El Espectador. Another minor would have a skull fracture. The newscast reported that when Legal Medicine officials came to see the condition of the passengers in the car, they had to leave for a moment when they saw the shocking images left by the accident.

For its part, the Mobility Secretariat of Bogotá suggests taking other routes for those who pass through the place and thus avoid traffic jams. Some of these routes are the south highway towards Soacha – Bogotá, Carrera 51 heading south to go on 68 and Avenida Boyacá that leads east.
