“A minor burned in a sugar mill in Santander is in critical condition”: HUS

Carlos Ariza, head of the emergency medical team at the Sangileño hospital, explained that the referral to Bucaramanga was urgent.

For this reason, relatives and authorities requested air transportation from San Gil to Bucaramanga. The request was raised to the departmental Health Secretariat, the National Army – taking into account that the minor’s father is a professional soldier – and the Risk Management Unit.

In this regard, the Director of Risk Management of Santander pointed out that the operation to help the minor was launched, and on the afternoon of this Thursday, with the support of the National Army, after coordinating with the Government of Santander, he was transferred in helicopter to the Santander capital and is treated in the Burns Unit of the Santander University Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Santander University Hospital announced the minor’s health status through a press release.

“Today at 4:00 p.m., the ESE HUS medical team received a 3-year-old minor referred from the San Gil Regional Hospital, who suffered an accident in a boiler in a sugar mill. third degree burns over 95% of your body.

The patient is in critical condition due to the severity of the burns and the prognosis is reserved. The medical staff and specialists are giving him all the necessary attention. ”

The accident occurred in the San Juan Nepomuceno village of San Joaquín. According to this wording, the child has 80% of the body with serious burns.
