The agency’s director warned that hastily ending coronavirus isolation can have a greater economic impact.

“The pandemic is far from over, I repeat, the pandemic is far from over. The WHO remains concerned about increasing trends in Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America and some Asian countries, as cases and deaths are not reported in many countries due to poor testing capabilities, ”said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The director general of the World Health Organization (WHO) also stressed that this body cannot compel states to comply with its recommendations, but assured that the countries that are doing so in the current pandemic are achieving better results.

“Countries that have followed our advice are in a better situation than those that have not,” Tedros said in response to questions about WHO’s management of the pandemic.

The expert stressed that the WHO “provides the best advice that it can based on scientific evidence, but each country can accept it or not, they assume their responsibility and we do not have the power to abide by our recommendations.”
