The mask has become a symbol of the new coronavirus pandemic. They are not only seen as a necessary implement to take care of each other, but they have become part of our daily life, to the point that many have chosen to use it as another accessory.
It is not difficult to find them with patterns or curious designs. A sign that, at least in the short term, we will have to get used to being part of the landscape until the long-awaited vaccine arrives.
This is partly why the photo of a newborn baby ‘taking off’ an obstetrician’s mask received so much attention.

Although the image, which was shared on October 5 on Instagram, went viral just a few days ago, many already consider that it will be a postcard for the future.
Its protagonist is Dr. Samer Cheaib, based in Dubai, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and who is no stranger to sharing photos of his work on social networks.
This one in particular stood out not only for being one of the few on his grayscale account, but also for the details of the moment captured.
The newborn, still crying, reveals, inadvertently, the ear-to-ear smile that Cheaib hid under his mask.

“We all want a sign that we will soon take off our masks“wrote the doctor in the description of the publication, which, as of October 16, had almost 57,000 ‘likes’.

Many of the comments on the post rated the photo as “the best of 2020.”
Others thanked Cheaib for what they felt “a message of hope “in difficult times, as the Argentine journalist Jime Grandinetti wrote.

“A beautiful photo, doctor, and yes, I hope the day (to remove our masks) comes soon,” wrote the user identified as @ pinkyvarghese2.
The messages in the image are in English, Spanish, Arabic and even French, a sign that the effects of the coronavirus in everyday life have been felt in most parts of the world without any kind of distinction.
