These four people were sentenced to between seven and eight years in prison, and the Prosecutor’s Office reported, through a statement, that two former officials of that entity in Huila were part of the dangerous criminal structure, to which they attribute at least “10 thefts” that were committed under different modalities in that department, as well as in Caquetá, Cundinamarca, Tolima, Valle del Cauca, Magdalena and La Guajira.

One of these former officials, according to the Attorney General’s Office, was Héctor Engelberth Rodríguez Salazar, former Head of Headquarters and Personnel Security of the Huila Section, sentenced to 84 months in prison for crimes of “conspiracy to commit a crime, simple theft, embezzlement for illegal use and advice.”

The second former official is Héctor Merardo Ramos Lozano, who was an investigative technician at the Campoalegre Prosecutor’s Office (Huila) and that he will pay a penalty of 66 months in prison. However, the agency reported that this man was placed under house arrest “for health reasons.”

A third condemned is the retired police officer of the Sijín Jeison Esteven Acosta Ibarra, who will serve 90 months in prison, while the individual, identified as Wilfredo Antonio Cruz Triana, will pay the same sentence.

These four people accepted charges and decided to “negotiate” with the authorities, since the Prosecutor’s Office had about 8,000 hours of recording of “intercepted calls”, which revealed the role that each of them played within the criminal organization.

“The condemned identified possible targets through information provided by accomplices who carried out follow-up activities on the victims,” the prosecuting body explained, and said that these people raided commercial establishments, homes and residential complexes.

Another detail that the prosecutor in the case gave, and that was collected by the newspaper La Nación, is that the robberies were committed between September 2018 and all of 2019, and that A white Chevrolet Dimax truck, license plate GAO-012, was used, which was assigned to the Prosecutor’s Office.

“The evidence collected indicates the full participation of the Dimax truck for criminal purposes,” added the official.

Finally, according to the local media, the former head of security of the Prosecutor’s Office would have provided the official vehicle to commit the assaults, in addition to “accessing information systems” of that organization to alert the other accomplices that “they are investigating them by concert and that they were going to give arrest warrants… ”.
