The virtual hearing against the patrol officers Harby Damián Rodríguez and Juan Camilo Lloreda, cited by the Attorney General’s Office, continued this Wednesday. The policemen, now retired from office, must answer for the murder of Javier Ordóñez, who died after suffering acts of police abuse.
In the diligence, Harby Damián Rodríguez, one of the policemen who appears in the video in which a taser is downloaded to Javier Ordóñez, said that they arrived at the scene to answer the call for a fight. Some people dispersed, and among those who stayed was the law student and a friend.
According to patrolman Rodríguez, when they were going to start on his motorcycle they were attacked by Ordóñez. The blows were allegedly received by Lloreda “on the face, helmet and head.” He also claimed that he had to shoot the ground so that the two people who were with Ordóñez would not attack him.
At the time of the alleged attacks, the two policemen and Ordóñez fell to the ground. He says there were several taser blasts, “about 3 or 4” because “he was a very big man, with a lot of strength.”

Another colleague who arrived at the site helped to continue the procedure and they put him on the patrol. Harby Damián Rodríguez reported that he was not in that vehicle, but later arrived at the CAI and that was when he saw that “colleague Juan Camilo Lloreda is hitting him (Ordóñez) with his feet, approximately 4 times in the stomach and ribs” .
According to Rodríguez, he asked Lloreda not to hit the law student any more, but he left to return to the scene of the events and that only his partner was left with the detainee at the CAI.
He added that after returning to CAI Villa Luz, he noticed that Ordóñez’s health was deteriorating and that was when they decided to put him in a vehicle to take him to the Santa María del Lago hospital, where the man finally died.
In this diligence, the patrolman Juan Camilo Lloreda notified that he was assuming his own defense and requested the annulment of the entire case, arguing, among others, that he was not aware of the evidence against him and that due process was violated. The request was denied.
