Dump truck accident without brakes leaves 3 injured in Yumbo, Valle

The traffic accident occurred on a street in the upper part of the Uribe neighborhood, in Yumbo (Valle del Cauca), and Radio Super Cali reported that three people were injured and that about three cars were destroyed by the impact of the heavy vehicle, which it was laden with rubble and rocky material.

The media reports that at least five homes suffered damage to a large part of their structure, and in the photos it published it is observed that the dump truck also knocked down poles and burst power cables.

Local media released a short video showing when firefighters and emergency agencies take the injured on stretchers to transfer them to ambulances, since the scene was shocking for all the damage caused by the dump truck.

El País de Cali said that a first hypothesis indicates that the vehicle would have run out of brakes and that your driver lost control right on that street.

In fact, the Cali newspaper referred to the preliminary report of the Fire Department to say that, according to the driver’s account, when he lost “control of the brakes, he tried to hit another car to stop, but the truck continued straight and caused more damage.”

In this regard, the Secretary of Risk Management of Yumbo, Miguel Ángel Perdomo, said in 90 Minutes that the administration is collecting damage information, and that work is being done on the site because “there are people in ‘shock’ by what happened, this produced great roar and confusion ”.

It was a terrible noise, and it dragged the carts away. I thought it had been an earthquake, and I thought it had killed the neighbor who was washing his car, but thank goodness it is good ”, explained a resident of the sector in Noticias Caracol.

At the moment the state of health of the injured is unknown, and Valle del Cauca authorities are investigating whether the vehicle had all its documents in order.
