The positivity index, that is, the positive tests for coronavirus in Colombia, is less than 10%, which has allowed to postpone the contagion curve.
To this result it must be added that the Intensive Care Units (ICU) are in an occupation of less than 10%, hospitalized patients are 10% of the total and the application of tests is maintained at an average of three thousand each day.
THE COLOMBIAN spoke with Luis Alexander Moscoso, Deputy Minister of Health, to find out how the fight against the coronavirus is progressing.
How is the picture with the purchase of evidence?
“We expect 15,000 from the United States to arrive this Friday and next week to receive half a million from China and Korea.”
How have those contacts been to bring them?
“It’s not just getting the tests, but the transportation. The shortage is affecting, not so much in molecular tests, but in equipment for the extraction of ribinucleic acid (RNA), which the strong producer was in Germany, but with the closure of the borders the importation was complicated. It has not been an easy process, because countries first save what they need for them. ”
The implementation of protocols in sectors such as transportation, construction or manufacturing are coming to operate, what is that call?
“This is perhaps the most important issue, because it depends on all of us. 75% is in what we do, staying at home and with the protection measures. Manufacturing and construction will now be allowed to come online, but they will do so with key protocols. ”
What happens if protocols are not followed and people start dating?
“To avoid setbacks and return to stronger quarantine models, we need everyone’s commitment and that is based on distancing. If we are more than two meters apart, the possibility of coming into contact with the virus is reduced, but if we additionally wash our hands, use antibacterial, we will limit the possibility of being in contact with the virus. ”
The average of tests has been over the three thousand, what is missing to reach the goal of 15 thousand daily, as had been projected from the Government?
“Everything has its moment. Now we have just over four thousand cases and it is calculated that for each positive case we can have 1.4 undiagnosed cases. That means that we can have between 4,000 and 16,000 undiagnosed. To reach that average, we have tested those who have had contact with each positive. Now we start looking in high-risk areas. “
How will they search for those risk areas and what are they?
“Hospitals, with health personnel; Villavicencio prison where there is a focus; in La Dorada (Caldas) we find a neighborhood with a significant concentration of cases and in Cali the same thing happens. Samples will be taken there to expand the universe ”.
