The Mexican is studying two university degrees and wants to be an astronaut. This year he will participate in a program with aerospace experts.
Adhara Maite Pérez is not yet 10 years old and is already a celebrity in Mexico. The youngest, who lives in Mexico City, has an intellectual coefficient (IQ) of 162, with which it exceeds by two points the coefficients of renowned scientists, such as Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.
Despite her knowledge, Pérez was teased when she was younger because she suffers from Asperger syndrome, a disorder classified within the autism spectrum that prevents its sufferer from understanding ironies and relating to others easily.
“Children with Asperger’s don’t understand double meaning. It seems that they are in a world that they create. In the case of Adhara, his world is space, ”his mother, Nallely Sánchez, told Infobae Mexico last February.
When the experts from the Talent Attention Center (CEDAT) informed Sánchez that her daughter was gifted, the mother decided to enroll her in the center for a time. Adhara finished elementary school at the age of five and completed his baccalaureate at the Tláhuac Institute in less than two years. As if that were not enough, in 2019 it was chosen by Forbes Mexico magazine as one of the 100 most powerful women in her country.
Currently, he is studying two online university degrees: Industrial Engineering in Mathematics and Systems Engineering. In the latter he received a scholarship that covers 100% of the studies.
In addition, according to the Mexican newspaper El Universal, he has taken courses as complex as gravitational waves and observational astronomy at the Institute of Astronomy of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
In various media, Pérez has indicated that her dream is to be a scientist and become an astronaut. He is also learning English to apply to the University of Arizona, in the United States. “It’s very hot in Arizona, but I want to go because I want to study astrophysics,” the girl told Infobae.
Adhara is getting closer to accomplishing his goal, as he is preparing to participate in the International Air and Space Program (IASP), a specialized program in which you can train with aerospace experts and present a project at the US Space & Rocket Center (Alabama, USA).
For the moment, her mother hopes that the American university that Adhara aspires to be able to offer her a scholarship, since she does not have the financial resources to finance her career. “We have to give the economy a boost so it doesn’t get frustrated,” said Sánchez, who regrets that the country’s government has withdrawn support for genius children.
