This Tuesday the National Superintendency of Health (Supersalud) ordered the liquidation and takeover of the EPS Asociación Mutual Barrios Unidos de Quibdó (Ambuq) for the deficiency in their health services and economic inconsistencies.

The entity, which served 771,557 affiliates in the departments of Chocó, Atlántico, Bolívar, Valle del Cauca, Sucre, Magdalena, Cesar and Córdoba, was under permanent special surveillance measure by Superhealth since August 2016; However, it was unable to correct the bad behavior in financial, legal and technical-scientific indicators, thus exposing the guarantee of service to its users and the flow of resources to its service provider network to imminent risk.

The delegate superintendent of special measures, Germán Guerrero Gómez, assured that the decision, adopted through resolution 1214 of February 8, 2021, also implies taking possession of the goods, assets and businesses of Ambuq, as well as the process of transferring users to receiving EPS by the Ministry of Health to ensure the continuity of the provision of medical services in a timely manner.

The Superintendency appointed Luis Carlos Ochoa as settlement agent, who shall, among other functions, guarantee the provision of the health service to the affiliated population until the transfer of affiliates by the Ministry of Health is carried out.

Guerrero Gómez stressed that the measure ordered to the receiving EPS is to maintain the population distribution in the IPS assigned by Ambuq in phase 1 of the National Vaccination Plan so that adult beneficiaries are not affected.
