The United Kingdom records the highest number of deaths in Europe from the covid-19, ahead of Italy, with more than 32,000, indicate the data released this Tuesday by the National Statistics Office (ONS).

The ONS analyzes, based on death certificates issued until the week in which their study concludes, they include not only confirmed cases of the coronavirus, but also those in which the virus is listed as “possible cause”, which explains the difference with the data from the Government and other countries.

The agency also focuses on England, the most populated region of the Kingdom
United, and Wales, while Scotland and Northern Ireland do their own counting.

ONS statistics for the seven days until April 24 indicate that there were in England and Wales in that period 21,997 deaths from any cause, which is 11,539 more than the average for those days of the year, although the increase of 354 deaths was the lowest since March 20.
